LoudSpoon is operated by THE VCF GROUP, LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). This policy explains what information LoudSpoon collects, why, and the promises we make about how we use it. We wrote it in plain language on purpose, because the whole point of LoudSpoon is real people showing up for each other, and that only works on a foundation of trust.

LoudSpoon is currently an early preview. Some features described here reflect how the app is designed to work as it grows. If a practice below does not yet apply to the current version, it describes our intended approach as we add real accounts and connections.
The short version

We will never sell your personal identity. Your name, email, phone number, and exact home address are yours. We do not sell or rent them to advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else. Ever.

We collect only what the app needs to work, and we tell you plainly why.

We may use anonymized, community-level activity (the kinds of events happening, general areas, interest trends) to improve LoudSpoon, understand our communities, and support local partnerships and advertising. This is about the community as a whole, never a profile of you sold to someone else.

You are in control of what you share and who can see it.
What we collect, and why
Your profile information. Your name, @handle, profile photo, interests, and (optionally) a short "about you." This is how friends recognize and find you. Your first name and last initial are what strangers see; your full name is shown only to people you connect with.
Your contact information (phone number, home address). These are private and never shown on your profile. Your phone number helps secure your account and, if you choose, lets people you are actively in a plan with reach you. Your home address is used only to show plans near you and is never revealed to anyone unless you personally approve them for a plan at your place. On the map, a protected address is shown as a general area offset from your actual location, not your real spot.
Your activity in the app. The plans you create and join, your RSVPs, your circles, and the messages you send. This makes the core features work. Messages are not kept forever; they clear on a rolling schedule.
Basic technical information. Standard device and app information needed to run the service reliably and fix problems.
How we use anonymized, community-level information
As LoudSpoon grows, we may study patterns across our communities in an anonymized and aggregated form: information that describes groups of people, not any individual. For example, we might look at how many plans in an area happen at people's homes versus out at public places, which kinds of events are most popular in a region, or how interest in a given activity is trending. In cases like these we care about the count and the trend, not who you are or where you live, and we discard the identifying details.
We may use this community-level information to:

Improve LoudSpoon and decide what to build next.

Generate insights about what is happening in local communities.

Support advertising and partnerships with local businesses (see below).
We do not build or sell profiles about your individual behavior.
Advertising and local partnerships
If and when LoudSpoon shows advertising or promoted content, it will be contextual and local: based on what you are looking at and the general area you are in at that moment, not on a personal profile that has been assembled or sold about you. For example, if you are browsing outdoor events, you might see a nearby outfitter, because of what is on your screen, not because of a dossier we keep on you.
We may also offer local businesses their own presence on LoudSpoon, let them post or promote local plans, and share aggregated, anonymized community insights with them. None of this involves selling your personal identity.
How we may support the service financially
To keep LoudSpoon running and growing, we reserve the right to earn revenue through means such as premium features and subscriptions, paid or ticketed events, local business accounts, promoted local plans, and aggregated community insights. Any of these will be consistent with the promises in this policy, above all the promise that we do not sell your personal identity.

We do not sell or rent your name, email, phone number, or exact address.

We do not show your private contact information on your profile or reveal your home address without your explicit, per-plan approval.
Your choices and control

You decide what to put in your profile and which circles see your plans.

You approve, per plan, anyone who can see your address.

You can edit or remove your information (limits apply to some fields to keep the community trustworthy; contact us for changes tied to real-life events like a name change).

You can stop using LoudSpoon at any time.
Children
LoudSpoon is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as LoudSpoon evolves, especially as we move from this preview to real accounts and connections. When we make meaningful changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
